You gave me life in my beginnings
As you also gave me a blessed name
You placed your hand upon my life
Making me so sensitive to all things
You gently placed your image into my heart
So that I would always daily know,
That wherever I would go in this world
With me lord, you would also go
You placed me gently in my mothers womb
In in a strong family where the cross did thrive
Where your love passed through every generation
Always keeping our heart’s love for you alive
When I was little I knew I was your favorite
For each day you would always let me know
As your love always embraced me tightly
I knew you would never ever let me go
And I now understand the true reason lord
Why the words fell from my mother’s lips
That I would carry the flame for my generation
Always being blessed by your holy promise.
