I think of you always
for you are the shadow
that accompanies me while
the sun shines
And your spiritual essence
Is what I feel, though I have
Counted all the endless moments
Since you have left my side
When I dream, you are
the light that fills
my mind with the love
I yearn to feel for my
Heart has been too lonely
And even time cannot
Wipe away my tears!
When i am alone it is
unbearable for me, but
made bearable by the love
of the One who now enjoys
your laughter
Though i cry for your
company, i cherish all
of you that still lives
within my heart and soul
For you have not died, but
in passing you have taken
a trip ahead of me, where
I know that you await me
with open arms
I was made better in
my life, and i was made
stronger, and I endure
because of the power
of your love that you
still give to me
And I feel your heartbeat still,
As I lay alone in my bed,
I still feel your kiss with its
Soothing, healing powers
Upon my yearning lips
And I find even though you
Are not here, I feel your
abounding love stll in my
Sselfish daydreams each
Day that you are away…
until we are together again.
When I first started sharing my poetry, i was blessed
to share it at a site called Crossway Publications, A
Christian site made up of over 1500 poets. They would
Share poems together everyday, even asking some to
critique their works. One poetess friend wrote
a poem full of sadness and I e-mail and asked her why?
She then told me about the love of her life who had just
passed a while back and she still was experiencing deep
sorrow. I asked her if she mind if i would take her
Feeling of love and sorrow and write a poem for her to
her husband, and she agreed and this poem was written
for her in one hour making her smile she said! I wanted
to share it because a lot of people who read it loved it.
It truly reflects how the embrace of love stays on in
our lives even with the passing of a love one. After
reading some poems and messages last week i thought
this might help someone out there who is experiencing
the same thing having a much similar need!.

There is so much beauty in sorrow. You are a very tender hearted person Wendell, to share a friend’s grief with a poem.
Thank you so much Amri!
Such compassion Wendell, I admire that gentle heart of yours.
Thanks for the lovely compliment! It really moved my spirit…my friend!
Wendell you are such a lovely soul to have written this beautiful poem of longing and hope both ….

Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
I thank you for reading my poems and for your comment! You know your site always makes my day! Keep them coming! Thanks again!
Dearest Wendell, your gift no doubt eased the burden that is grief. That is our role as writers, as fellow travelers, to make the burden one shared. We know that grief can be a burden, but is also an anchor. You get used to the weight and how it holds you in place. Lovely. ~ Bobbie
Bobbie thanks for your comments, it seems i always get touched to write something for someone and was not of my choice but i am moved inside by the spirits touch! I have written things for people i did not know, until after i delivered the message…i never know what its going to be or come down as, only know that it comes down complete without editing needed most of the time. I did sense that in your writings also…that special gift. thanks for the way you explained to me! We are kindred spirits i know for i felt it with your first poem! Thanks for being a friend!
You’re so welcome! Thank you. Your words are as they should be, Wendell……..it comes from the soul and things that spring from the soul rarely need the ego to edit!
That is a very kind and utterly sweet gesture extended by you

And making someone smile is the greatest gift we possess. You wrote it so nicely as if experiencing the same emotions and feelings.
When a loved one passes away everything reminds us of them and we look forward to be able to do the same things we did once more hoping we would meet in some world..some other world
Loved it

Wendell, this is truly beautiful and heartfelt. Each word you wrote is as of the thoughts of my dearly departed husband in 1998. Since then I have remarried, but still feel his presence and love with me.
Even though you have written this beautiful poem to that dear woman. I feel it is for me too…thank you.
